
Dr. Kortebein has been practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1991. Recently he was chosen as one of the best oral and maxillofacial surgeons in a Milwaukee Magazine survey of dentists in the Milwaukee area.
A native to Wisconsin, Dr. Kortebein graduated from Whitefish Bay High School, after which he received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Ripon College. He was elected into the Eka Francian Chemistry Honor Society for his outstanding academic achievements as an undergraduate student.
In 1987, Dr. Kortebein graduated Cum Laude from Marquette University School of Dentistry, earning his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. While at Marquette University, he was recognized for his excellence in the dental profession by the election into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award by the American College of Dentists.
Dr. Kortebein completed his residency training in the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1987-1990. Immediately following his oral surgery training, Dr. Kortebein completed an intensive one year fellowship in Orthognathic and TMJ surgery at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas with nationally renowned surgeon, Larry M. Wolford, D.D.S. Dr. Kortebein has been honored within the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for his contributions to Education by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) in 1989 and 1991 and for his contributions to AAOMS Lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. in 1994. In addition to his commitment to educating others within the specialty of Oral Surgery nationally and internationally, Dr. Kortebein has authored many scientific publications. Dr. Kortebein is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Kortebein is a member of numerous professional organizations including American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Wisconsin Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, and the Greater Milwaukee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Presently, Dr. Kortebein is the Vice President of the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association.
Dr. Kortebein enjoys spending time with his family, coaching baseball and football for his children, playing golf and traveling.
