Meet Dr. Carr
Dr. Brian Rezel Carr, DMD, MD is a highly skilled dual-degree oral and maxillofacial surgeon who brings exceptional training and research expertise to Oral Surgery Associates of Milwaukee. His educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Arts from Macalester College, followed by a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Carr completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital, one of the nation’s premier training programs. His comprehensive training included rotations at multiple institutions including Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Clements University Hospital, and John Peter Smith Hospital, giving him extensive experience with both routine and complex surgical cases.
Dr. Carr’s surgical expertise encompasses several specialized areas of practice. He has particular interest and advanced training in wisdom teeth extraction, complex dental implant cases, maxillofacial trauma, oral pathology, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), and orthognathic (jaw) surgery. His research publications reflect his clinical interests, with significant contributions to the literature on dental implant success factors, management of odontogenic infections, and the effects of jaw surgery on patient outcomes.
Dr. Carr currently serves as the director of evidence review for Advancing Residents of Oral Surgery (AROMS), where he curates and evaluates emerging research to support the development of future oral surgeons. This leadership role reflects his dedication to education and evidence-based practice in the specialty.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Carr has demonstrated a commitment to public health discourse through his contributions to the Dallas Morning News, where he has authored thoughtful editorials on healthcare policy, the impact of technology on medicine, and the responsibilities of healthcare providers. He has also appeared on numerous Podcasts. His perspective as both a clinician and educator brings valuable insight to these complex issues.
Dr. Carr holds both a dental and medical license in Wisconsin, and is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). His professional affiliations include the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and American Dental Association.
When not treating patients or conducting research, Dr. Carr maintains an active lifestyle that includes traveling with his wife, Madeline, playing with his son, Jack, and walking his two beloved dogs, Remy and Bentley. These personal pursuits reflect his commitment to wellness and work-life balance, values that inform his compassionate approach to patient care.
